WOW! Term 4 already! It has been a crazy end of the term with both classes moving, but we are now settled in our new learning spaces and are looking forward to the next 9 weeks. Thank you for your help throughout the move and support along the way. There are some important dates for your calendar so please see ‘Upcoming Events’ tab. In Term 4 for the Connected Curriculum, we will be focusing on ‘what if the force was with you?’ U3 and U5 will be looking at the following big questions: What is gravity? In what ways can objects move? What opposes force? How does mass affect force? What forces do our bodies create? Students will engage in a range of different activities that will allow them to explore these questions further. The Connected Curriculum project students will work on this term will be to use skills in design and technologies to create a game that uses force in some way. Students will develop their scientific language, problem solving and questioning skills in this project. In addition, students will have the opportunity to work in teams and peer and self assess the success of their projects. Literacy We will be exploring bookmaking for the first time this year to encourage students to construct texts of their own choice. This will develop students’ knowledge in the differing features authors use to make a text engaging. In genre writing, we will focusing on persuasive texts and consolidating skills in narrative, recounts, informative and procedural texts. Literacy groups based on your child's needs will be continue to be held four days a week with students moving to each group throughout the week. Numeracy This term we will be focusing on time, volume and capacity, mapping and calendars. We will be continuing to consolidate our number sense and problems solving strategies throughout the term and will revisit maths concepts learned during the year.
